The Alef Of Torah

Lithograph, 11" x 14"
Limited Edition of 100
$50

According to legend & rabbinic interpretation, ‘Alef’, as the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet reveals many levels of significance. From its place as the first letter of each of the Ten Commandments to its omnipresence in the Torah, the alef expresses G-D’s intellect & agenda for humanity, reinforcing the existence of all Creation and symbolizing the Faith, Wisdom & Understanding necessary to embrace it. Graphically, the construction of the Alef is intended to represent the higher & lower waters of Creation & the Firmament which connects them. Illuminating the words of the Hasidic master Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the image created for "The Alef Of Torah" embodies the heavens & earth bound by the ‘yad’(torah pointer) symbolizing the Oneness of G-D, Torah & Israel.
